세계청년리더총연맹(WFPL, WORLD FEDERATION OF POWER LEADERS, 이하 세계총연맹)은 지난 2007년 1월11일 설립된 '국제청소년연구원 (구. 국제청소년연구소, 초대 대표 이산하<李山河>)'을 모태로 한 비영리 정치적 중립기구로, 세계총연맹 부설 언론기관인 세계언론협회(WPA, WORLD PRESS ASSOCIATION)와 전국 17개 광역시•도 지부연맹 및 세계 각 국가의 지부연맹을 통해서 열정을 가진 청년인재들과 함께 사회의 구조적 모순에서 일어나는 위기상황을 해결해 나가는데 기여하고 있다. 또한 세계 각국 간의 교류와 협력을 통해 사회적 약자가 소외 받지 않고 참여와 소통의 문화가 확산돼 ’더불어 함께하는 세상'을 열어 가는데 가치를 두고 있다. |

세계언론협회(WPA)란
What is the World Press Association (WPA)?
세계언론협회(WPA, World Press Association)는 세계청년리더총연맹(WFPL) 부설 언론기관으로서 언론의 자유와 독립성 수호, 민주주의 가치 증진, 공공성 실현 및 국제 언론협력 강화를 목적으로 설립된 국제 언론 네트워크이다.
The World Press Association (WPA) is a media organization affiliated with the World Federation of Power Leaders (WFPL). It is an international media network established to protect press freedom and independence, promote democratic values, advance the public interest, and strengthen international cooperation among media organizations.
특히 세계언론협회는 국민이 위임한 권력이 특정 개인이나 특정 세력의 이익을 위하여 사유화되는 것을 경계하며, 특정세력에 의한 권력 사유화로 인해 불행한 역사가 반복되지 않도록 언론 본연의 감시와 견제 기능을 강화하는 데 힘쓰고 있다.
In particular, the WPA remains vigilant against the privatization of public power for the benefit of specific individuals or interests and works to strengthen the media's fundamental role of oversight and accountability in order to prevent the recurrence of tragic histories caused by the privatization of power.
설립목적
Purpose of Establishment
세계언론협회는 언론의 자유와 표현의 자유를 수호하고 민주주의 가치와 공공성을 증진하며 국민의 알 권리 보장과 사회적 약자 보호를 위하여 설립되었다.
The WPA was established to protect freedom of the press and freedom of expression, promote democratic values and the public interest, safeguard the public's right to know, and protect socially vulnerable groups.
또한 국내외 언론인들의 협력과 연대를 통하여 언론의 전문성과 독립성을 강화하고 공정하고 책임 있는 언론 환경 조성에 기여하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
It also seeks to strengthen journalistic professionalism and independence through cooperation and solidarity among media professionals worldwide and to contribute to the development of a fair and responsible media environment.
