WF책임경영지수(WFSRI, WF Sustainable Responsibility Index)는 SEC(Sustainable Enterprise Evaluation Commission)가 독자적으로 개발·운영하는 공식 책임경영 평가체계(Official Responsible Management Evaluation Framework)이다. WFSRI는 기업 및 공공기관(Corporations and Public Institutions)의 지속가능한 성장(Sustainable Growth), 미래 성장 가능성(Future Growth Potential), 혁신역량(Innovation Capability), 장기 가치창출 역량(Long-Term Value Creation Potential), 책임경영(Responsible Management) 및 비재무 리스크 관리역량(Non-Financial Risk Management Capability)을 종합적으로 평가하여 지속적인 발전과 혁신을 지원하기 위해 개발되었다.

The WF Sustainable Responsibility Index (WFSRI) is the Official Responsible Management Evaluation Framework independently developed and operated by the Sustainable Enterprise Evaluation Commission (SEC). It has been designed to comprehensively evaluate the Sustainable Growth, Future Growth Potential, Innovation Capability, Long-Term Value Creation Potential, Responsible Management Performance, and Non-Financial Risk Management Capability of Corporations and Public Institutions while supporting their continuous development and innovation.

 

SEC는 기업 및 공공기관을 객관적이고 체계적으로 평가하는 신뢰받는 책임경영 평가기관(Trusted Responsible Management Evaluation Institution)이다. SEC의 평가는 단순히 조직의 현재 수준을 측정하거나 등급을 부여하는 데 목적이 있는 것이 아니라, 조직의 지속가능한 성장과 장기 경쟁력을 지원하고 투자자, 주주, 고객, 임직원, 협력기관 및 다양한 이해관계자의 합리적인 의사결정을 지원함으로써 기업가치(Corporate Value), 주주가치(Shareholder Value), 이해관계자 가치(Stakeholder Value)를 함께 높이는 데 목적이 있다.

SEC is a Trusted Responsible Management Evaluation Institution dedicated to providing objective and systematic evaluations of corporations and public institutions. The purpose of SEC's evaluation is not merely to measure current organizational performance or assign ratings, but to support sustainable growth and long-term competitiveness while enabling informed decision-making by investors, shareholders, customers, employees, partners, and other stakeholders, thereby enhancing Corporate Value, Shareholder Value, and Stakeholder Value.

 

오늘날 조직의 경쟁력은 단순한 재무성과만으로 평가되지 않는다. 지속가능한 성장, 혁신역량, 비재무 리스크 관리, 공공가치, 사회적 가치, 디지털 윤리, 장기 가치창출 등 다양한 요소를 종합적으로 고려하는 새로운 평가환경으로 빠르게 변화하고 있다.

Today, organizational competitiveness is no longer measured solely by financial performance. 본 백서는 이러한 시대적 변화에 대응하여 개발된 WF책임경영지수(WFSRI)의 평가철학, 평가체계, 운영원칙 및 활용체계를 체계적으로 설명하는 SEC의 공식 기준문서이다.

This White Paper serves as SEC's official reference document, systematically presenting the evaluation philosophy, framework, operational principles, and applications of the WF Sustainable Responsibility Index (WFSRI).

 

 

2. AI 시대 새로운 평가환경
A New Evaluation Environment in the Age of AI

 

인공지능(AI)의 확산과 디지털 전환은 기업 및 공공기관의 경영환경을 근본적으로 변화시키고 있다. 데이터 기반 의사결정, 자동화, 디지털 플랫폼, 글로벌 공급망 재편, 사이버 보안, 기후변화 대응, 인권 보호, 윤리경영에 대한 요구는 조직의 운영 방식뿐 아니라 경쟁력을 평가하는 기준까지 빠르게 변화시키고 있다.

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital transformation is fundamentally reshaping the operating environment of corporations and public institutions. Data-driven decision-making, automation, digital platforms, global supply chain restructuring, cybersecurity, climate action, human rights, and ethical governance are transforming not only organizational operations but also the standards used to evaluate organizational competitiveness.

 

오늘날 조직의 경쟁력은 현재의 성과보다 미래의 대응 역량에 의해 더욱 크게 좌우되고 있다. 혁신을 지속할 수 있는 능력, 비재무 리스크를 관리하는 역량, 이해관계자의 신뢰를 확보하는 책임경영 수준은 지속가능한 성장과 장기 경쟁력을 결정하는 핵심 요소가 되고 있다.

Today, organizational competitiveness is increasingly determined not only by present performance but by the ability to respond successfully to future challenges. The capacity for continuous innovation, effective management of non-financial risks, and responsible management that earns stakeholder trust have become critical factors for sustainable growth and long-term competitiveness.

 

이러한 변화는 조직을 평가하는 기준 역시 새로운 시대에 맞게 발전해야 함을 의미한다. 기존의 재무성과 중심 또는 단일 영역 중심의 평가는 조직의 미래 경쟁력을 충분히 설명하기 어려우며, 보다 종합적이고 미래지향적인 책임경영 평가체계가 요구되고 있다.

These developments indicate that evaluation standards must evolve alongside the changing environment. Traditional approaches centered primarily on financial performance or limited assessment domains are no longer sufficient to explain future organizational competitiveness, creating the need for a more comprehensive and forward-looking Responsible Management Evaluation Framework.

 

 

3. WFSRI 개발 배경
Background of the WFSRI Development

 

ESG(Environmental, Social, Governance)는 기업 및 공공기관의 지속가능성을 평가하는 국제적인 기준으로 자리매김하며 책임 있는 경영활동을 촉진하는 데 중요한 역할을 해왔다.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) has become an internationally recognized framework for evaluating organizational sustainability and has played a significant role in promoting responsible management.

 

그러나 오늘날 조직이 직면한 경영환경은 ESG가 처음 제시되던 시기와 비교하여 크게 변화하였다. 공공가치(Public Value), 사회적 가치(Social Value), 공동체 가치(Community Value), 미래세대 보호(Protection of Future Generations), 디지털 윤리(Digital Ethics), 혁신역량(Innovation Capability), 미래 성장 가능성(Future Growth Potential) 등 새로운 책임경영 요소의 중요성이 지속적으로 확대되고 있다.

However, today's management environment has evolved considerably since ESG was first introduced. Increasing importance is now placed on Public Value, Social Value, Community Value, Protection of Future Generations, Digital Ethics, Innovation Capability, and Future Growth Potential as essential components of responsible management.

 

이러한 변화에 대응하기 위해 SEC는 기존 ESG를 대체하는 것이 아니라 ESG의 기본 철학을 포함하면서 현대 사회가 요구하는 새로운 책임경영 요소를 보다 폭넓게 평가할 수 있는 WF책임경영지수(WFSRI)를 독자적으로 개발하였다.

In response to these developments, SEC independently developed the WF Sustainable Responsibility Index (WFSRI)—not as a replacement for ESG, but as an Official Responsible Management Evaluation Framework that incorporates the fundamental philosophy of ESG while extending evaluation to the broader dimensions of Responsible Management required in modern society.

 

WFSRI는 기업 및 공공기관의 지속가능성, 책임경영 수준, 비재무 리스크 관리역량, 혁신역량 및 장기 가치창출 역량을 보다 종합적이고 미래지향적으로 평가하기 위한 발전지향형 책임경영 평가체계로 설계되었다.

The WFSRI is designed as a development-oriented Responsible Management Evaluation Framework that provides a more comprehensive and forward-looking assessment of Sustainability, Responsible Management Performance, Non-Financial Risk Management Capability, Innovation Capability, and Long-Term Value Creation Potential for corporations and public institutions.

 

 

4. WFSRI의 의의와 특징
Significance and Key Features of the WFSRI

 

WF책임경영지수(WFSRI)는 기존 ESG를 대체하기 위하여 개발된 평가체계가 아니다. WFSRI는 ESG의 기본 철학을 포함하며 현대 사회가 요구하는 새로운 책임경영 요소를 보다 종합적이고 미래지향적으로 평가하기 위하여 SEC가 독자적으로 개발한 공식 책임경영 평가체계(Official Responsible Management Evaluation Framework)이다.

The WF Sustainable Responsibility Index (WFSRI) was not developed to replace conventional ESG. Rather, it is the Official Responsible Management Evaluation Framework independently developed by SEC to incorporate the fundamental philosophy of ESG while providing a broader and more forward-looking evaluation of the emerging dimensions of Responsible Management required in today's society.

The WFSRI comprehensively evaluates Sustainability, Responsible Management, Non-Financial Risk Management Capability, Innovation Capability, and Long-Term Value Creation Potential while also incorporating the broader dimensions of Responsible Management required in the modern era, including Public Value, Social Value, Community Value, Protection of Future Generations, and Digital Ethics.

 

또한 WFSRI는 조직의 현재 성과를 측정하는 데 그치지 않고 미래 성장 가능성과 지속가능한 경쟁력을 함께 진단하여 조직 스스로 지속적인 개선과 혁신을 추진할 수 있도록 지원하는 발전지향형 책임경영 평가체계(Development-Oriented Responsible Management Evaluation Framework)이다.

Furthermore, the WFSRI is not limited to measuring current organizational performance. It is a Development-Oriented Responsible Management Evaluation Framework that evaluates future growth potential and sustainable competitiveness while supporting organizations in pursuing continuous improvement and innovation.

 

WFSRI는 6대 평가부문(Six Major Evaluation Categories), 14개 하위항목(Fourteen Sub-Categories), 110개 세부평가지표(110 Detailed Evaluation Indicators) 및 31개 핵심가치지표(Core Value Indicators, CVI)로 구성되어 있으며, 객관성과 일관성을 기반으로 기업 및 공공기관의 책임경영 수준과 지속가능한 성장 역량을 체계적으로 평가하도록 설계되어 있다.

The WFSRI consists of Six Major Evaluation Categories, Fourteen Sub-Categories, 110 Detailed Evaluation Indicators, and 31 Core Value Indicators (CVI). Together, these components provide an objective and consistent framework for systematically evaluating Responsible Management performance and sustainable growth capability.
