오늘날 지속가능성은 기업 및 공공기관의 선택이 아니라 미래 경쟁력을 결정하는 핵심 기준이 되고 있습니다. 기후변화, 탄소중립, 디지털 전환, 인공지능(AI)의 발전, 공급망 재편, 인권 보호, 윤리경영 및 공공가치 실현에 대한 사회적 요구가 확대되면서 조직은 경제적 성과를 넘어 지속가능성과 책임경영, 그리고 미래 대응 역량까지 함께 요구받고 있습니다.

SEC(Sustainable Enterprise Evaluation Commission)는 이러한 시대적 요구에 부응하기 위하여 WF책임경영지수(WFSRI, WF Sustainable Responsibility Index)를 개발하였습니다.

 

SEC는 단순히 평가를 수행하는 기관이 아닙니다. 객관적이고 독립적인 평가를 통하여 기업 및 공공기관이 지속가능한 성장과 장기적인 경쟁력을 강화하고, 투자자와 이해관계자의 합리적인 의사결정을 지원하는 신뢰받는 책임경영 평가기관이 되는 것을 사명으로 합니다.

 

SEC는 평가가 조직의 우열을 가리기 위한 수단이 아니라 현재를 객관적으로 진단하고 미래의 발전 방향을 함께 제시하는 과정이어야 한다는 철학을 바탕으로 책임경영 평가체계를 지속적으로 발전시키고 있습니다.

동시에 기업 및 공공기관, 연구기관, 정책입안자, 투자자 및 다양한 이해관계자가 책임경영을 올바르게 이해하고 실천할 수 있도록 지원하는 WFSRI의 공식 해설서(Official Reference Guide)이자 연구자료의 역할을 수행합니다.

Today, sustainability is no longer an option but a defining standard of future competitiveness for corporations and public institutions. As climate action, carbon neutrality, digital transformation, advances in artificial intelligence (AI), supply-chain resilience, human rights protection, ethical management, and the pursuit of public value continue to reshape the global environment, organizations are increasingly expected to demonstrate not only financial performance but also sustainability, responsible management, and future readiness.

 

In this rapidly changing environment, sustainable growth and long-term value creation require more than measuring current performance. They require a trusted evaluation framework capable of objectively assessing an organization's present capabilities while identifying its future potential for growth, innovation, and long-term competitiveness.

 

 

The Role and Mission of SEC

 

In response to these evolving expectations, the Sustainable Enterprise Evaluation Commission (SEC) developed the WF Sustainable Responsibility Index (WFSRI).

 

SEC is not merely an institution that conducts evaluations. Its mission is to serve as a trusted Responsible Management Evaluation Institution that helps corporations and public institutions strengthen sustainable growth, long-term competitiveness, and informed decision-making by investors and stakeholders through objective and independent evaluations.

 

SEC believes that evaluation should not simply distinguish organizational performance, but should objectively assess the present while providing direction for future development. Guided by this philosophy, SEC continues to advance its Responsible Management Evaluation Framework.

The WF Sustainable Responsibility Index (WFSRI) is a next-generation Responsible Management Evaluation Framework developed to address the evolving responsible management challenges of modern society that are difficult to fully capture through conventional ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) frameworks alone. Going beyond the traditional ESG domains, it incorporates Public Value, Social Value, Community Value, Protection of Future Generations, Digital Ethics, Innovation Value, and Future Growth Capability to provide a more comprehensive and forward-looking assessment of the Sustainability, Responsible Management Performance, Non-Financial Risk Management Capability, Innovation Capability, and Long-Term Value Creation Potential of Corporations and Public Institutions.

 

The WFSRI is designed to comprehensively evaluate Sustainability, Responsible Management Performance, Non-Financial Risk Management Capability, Innovation Capability, and Long-Term Value Creation Potential while supporting continuous innovation, stronger stakeholder trust, and sustainable organizational growth.

 

 

Purpose of This White Paper

 

This White Paper serves as the Official Reference Document of SEC, comprehensively presenting the development background, evaluation philosophy, framework, Core Value Indicators (CVI), methodology, and applications of the WFSRI.

 

It also serves as the Official Reference Guide to the WFSRI, providing practical guidance and research resources for corporations, public institutions, researchers, policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders seeking to better understand and implement responsible management.
